In a fire you are taught to stop, drop and roll. Well these are actually pretty good skills for volleyball as well.
This drill incorporates footwork, stamina, rolling and passing. You will need a rope ladder. If you do not have one, you can make a ladder using tape. You will also need a couple of exercise mats, some cones and some balls.
Begin this drill by having your players perform a ladder drill. There are many types of drills to maximize speed, agility, balance or quickness. The ladder drill can help improve forward and lateral agility that is so crucial on the court.

One of the most important skills in performing an effective kill or block is the take off.
Having a good vertical from the take off doesn’t hurt and these drills will develop both.
For younger players the temptation is to take off on one foot, which leaves your players being off balance or landing into the net.
Here is an effective drill that helps your players develop the right take off either approaching the net for a spike or moving side to side for the block and increases their vertical.
