Volleyball Drills to Simulate Real Games

by Hayley on December 7, 2011

volleyball drillsIt is easy for a coach to come up with volleyball drills to simulate the basic movements required of a hit.  Toss the ball into the air and have a player spike it and they will know the basic movements associated with the spike.  The same holds true for any type of hit.  However, in a game, the ball is not going to be tossed to a single place every time in order for a player

Volleyball Drills You Can Do Alone

by Hayley on November 9, 2011

Volleyball is a team sport.  It requires the effort and support of everyone on the team in order to be successful.  To this end, most volleyball drills are designed for the team to work together on.  However, much like any other sport out there, the more an individual can practice, the more they will bring to the team as a whole.  Because most players don’t live with each other, it is important to work on a set of volleyball drills that a player can work on when alone.  These are drills that can be done between practices or even in the off season.  While they are generally beginning drills, they will help even advanced players stay sharp the year round.

Your team has just made a great to the setter. The setter, because she is just learning, gets a good set off but not high enough to be able to be spiked.

Here comes your enthusiastic player all ready to spike the ball but the ball is already below the top of the net.  They spike it wonderfully right into the net.

Or another picture of a setter who should just set or tip the ball over with that second hit but
